Your public service announcement (PSA) must be a total duration of 60 seconds or less, and your message must be about the dangers of car jacking or riding in a stolen car. Contestants can enter separate videos in both categories. Videos will be judged on originality, creativity and persuasiveness.
Campaign Period: Entries will be accepted online starting on June 26, 2019 CST and ending August 31, 2019, CST. All online entries must be received by August 31, 2019, CST. To enter your commercial: Upload video entry to the Internet (i.e., jackacarjackupyourlife.org) along with the completion of the online entry form.
More than one public service announcement (PSA) may be submitted by one student.
Agreement to Rules: By participating, the Contestant (“You”) agree to be fully unconditionally bound by these Rules, and You represent and warrant that You meet the eligibility requirements. In addition, You agree to accept the decisions of Ignite Change as final and binding as it relates to the content of this Campaign. Should your commercial be selected as a winning entry, please save all original work.
You may enter as an individual or as a team. All team members listed on the entry form must be between the ages of 12 -25 and a United States or Canadian citizen attending a United States (or U.S. territories) or Canadian high school. Team members are decided by the team captain. Team members must be listed on the entry form. Should your commercial be selected as a winning entry, the scholarship money would be divided evenly among all team members listed on the entry form. Employees of Ignite Change, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and suppliers, (collectively the “Employees”), and immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of Employees are not eligible to participate in the Campaign. The Campaign is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited.
A completed Work Cited page is required and must be completed under an MLA or APA format and submitted with the Consent Form if chosen as a finalist. This includes any photographs, researched facts and statistics. Do not use any family photographs, published photographs, website photographs, or film footage without written permission from the owner or all people in the photograph/film footage. This includes footage of school activities and sporting events. Photos that appear on the Internet and in magazines usually have copyrights and cannot be used (all movie, video game and TV footage is protected, as are news photos and film footage). Any video or photographs submitted using images without signed permission of the video or photograph’s owner will be disqualified.
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) must be acceptable for airing by television stations; vulgar language and graphic content are not allowed.
Commercials that contain dangerous stunts, unsafe driving, will be disqualified.
Do not show any company names or logos (i.e., businesses, high schools, universities, cemeteries) trademarks or art, including those on hats, shirts, and other items of clothing.
Do not include any phone numbers or web site addresses except for Jackacarjackupyourlife.org. You may include your name and those of your team in the video as producers of the video, if you choose, although it is not necessary.
You may not use images in your video of tombstones with legible names and dates on them unless you have written permission from the family of the deceased. Permission must be submitted with your entry. You may edit the names and dates by blurring or blacking them out.
Submissions to the Jack A Car Jack Up Your Life competition will not be returned, and may be displayed, duplicated, edited and exhibited for educational or promotional purposes as deemed appropriate by the Running Rebels, UniteMKE or The Milwaukee Office of Violence Prevention. Submission of the video constitutes your approval for such use and exhibition. Terms & Conditions: Ignite Change reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Campaign should virus, bug, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or other cause beyond Ignite Change’s control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Campaign. In such case, Ignite Change may select the Winner from all eligible entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by Ignite Change. Ignite Change reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Campaign or website or violates these Terms & Conditions. Ignite Change has the right, in its sole discretion, to maintain the integrity of the Campaign, to void votes for any reason, including, but not limited to: multiple entries from the same user from different IP addresses; multiple entries from the same computer in excess of that allowed by Campaign rules; or the use of bots, macros, scripts, or other technical means for entering. Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Campaign may be a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such attempt be made, Ignite Change reserves the right to seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Any video that glamourizes or encourages Car Jacking will be disqualified. Any videos submitted by students will be determined to be ineligible at the sole discretion of Jack A Car Jack Up Your Life. Any dispute associated with a video submission will be governed in accordance with substitutive and procedural Wisconsin law. Disputes: THIS Campaign IS GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND the state of Wisconsin, WITHOUT RESPECT TO CONFLICT OF LAW DOCTRINES. As a condition of participating in this Campaign, participant agrees that any and all disputes that cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Campaign, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in the state of Wisconsin having jurisdiction. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances shall participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorney’s fees, other than participant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with entering this Campaign). Participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.
15. The only music and sound effects allowed on your entry must come from one of two sources:
Your own music you created and performed alone or with your team member
Copyright free music
Please note: Option (1) above, allows you to include work that is original to you. Everyone involved in composing and performing the music and sound effects must sign the Consent Form. You may not play (i.e., “cover”) anyone else’s music or use their sound effects unless that person is a team member who is available to sign the Consent Form.
